18th May 2009 – 18th June 2009 is the first book in a series which alludes to the debate surrounding the issue of whether an artist’s journal is an artist’s book, or not. By changing the format from an ordinary diary-type book to a letter book, the ordinary diary codex format is changed. The conceptual underpinning of a diary type book is also broadened by the request I made to each individual I came into contact with during this period; I asked them to write me a journal-type page of their own, in this way intersecting their lives with my own in the book format. |

I feel life is not lived in isolation, with many varied people crossing ones path daily. They now have a physical presence via the letters they have written. This book also makes reference to mail art, and I am going to use the concept of mail art to create more collaborative books. |
